I dread taking a hair cut for two reasons. One, I get sucked in to the smarketing tactics of my barber (and honestly I am amazed at his ever-new storytelling skills that can leave some of the best marketers frustrated) and two, I always end up getting a bad hair cut.
Irrespective of the outcome, I end up spending 10 times of what I intended to do when I step in to his den. Don’t get him wrong. He’s not selling. He is just marketing his inventory by playing through your strongest emotions. At the end of day (and I am just assuming here), even Seth Godin would love to have hair.
Like I keep saying to myself, some of the smart marketing tactics are always at your disposal. You just need to look beyond the obvious. Until then wishing all of you a lot of good luck with your next new look.
