How is your employee/colleague/team-mate looking at her role when she walks in to work everyday?
If she’s looking at it as a job or a career, chances are, she will add to your attrition woes. Chances are, she dreads coming to work because somewhere she feels a part of her is left behind every time she scans her id and walks in to the office.
As a leader, this is one problem that you should not be happy to have. This is a problem that is more prevalent in start ups. The role (being offered) start as a calling and spiral down to being a career or even worse, a job.
Side Note: It’s only up to you (as a leader) to make sure she takes her role as ‘a calling.’ Maybe, its high time to take a deeper look at the culture you’ve built.
